MINNEAPOLIS - April 28, 2014 - Medtronic has been recognized as a top U.S. corporate citizen by Corporate Responsibility Magazine. The publication's 100 Best Corporate Citizens List, released this week, recognizes companies for their commitment to the environment, climate change, employee relations, human rights, governance, finance and philanthropy.

Corporate Responsibility magazine's rating is based on publicly available information and is recognized as one of the nation's top measurements of corporate responsibility.  There are 318 elements considered within those seven social responsibility categories.

Medtronic was ranked at 81 on the list of the top 100 companies this year and has been on this list four of the last five years.  Medtronic is also highly rated in several other corporate citizenship ratings, including the 2013 Dow Jones Sustainability World Index, FTSE4Good Index, and 2013 Forbes America's Most Reputable Companies (ranked 61st).

"Medtronic's mission, unchanged since founder Earl Bakken wrote it more than half a century ago, calls us to contribute to human welfare in a way that maintains good citizenship as a company," said Omar Ishrak, Medtronic chairman and chief executive officer.
