SAN ANTONIO, TX - December 8, 2014 - Medtronic, Inc. (NYSE: MDT) today announced that five San Antonio community organizations will receive a combined $250,000 in Health Access Grants in recognition of their continued commitment to promoting healthy lifestyles and improving access to healthcare, with an emphasis on diabetes. As Medtronic marks the five year anniversary of its San Antonio location, this announcement demonstrates the company's ongoing support of the local community. Medtronic Philanthropy awards Health Access Grants in 36 communities around the world where Medtronic has a major presence.
The 2014 Health Access Grant recipients for programs in San Antonio are:
November marks the five-year anniversary of the Medtronic Diabetes Group San Antonio site, which offers customer care services, as well as education and training for patients and healthcare professionals using Medtronic technologies and services for the management of diabetes.
With over 1,075 employees in San Antonio, Medtronic is committed to supporting the communities where its employees live and give. For the past five years in San Antonio, Medtronic has partnered with JDRF, and for the past three years, has partnered with the ADA. Most recently, Medtronic partnered with a number of community organizations as part of a month-long give-back, sponsoring the following volunteer programs:
