Medtronic shifts to a higher gear with a refreshed brand

Announces bold ambition to become the global healthcare technology leader

Medtronic unveiled its refreshed brand, powered by the company’s bold ambition to be the global leader in healthcare technology. The new look highlights Medtronic’s crucial role in addressing rising healthcare challenges.

“We are at a pivotal moment in human health. Healthcare budgets are severely stressed, access to quality care is limited, and pervasive systemic healthcare inequities remain for too many,” said Geoff Martha, Medtronic chairman and chief executive officer. “Technology will be part of the solution to drive better outcomes for our world and dismantle global disparities in healthcare.”

The bold new look

The brand refresh includes a new tagline, “Engineering the extraordinary,” a call to action for all Medtronic employees to help deliver better outcomes for the world, no matter their job title.

“Medtronic’s brand must be intentionally and thoughtfully tied to our business objectives and strategy. Our new brand reflects our goal to become the leading healthcare technology company and a cornerstone for societal change,” said Torod Neptune, senior vice president and chief communications officer. “We’ll think about healthcare differently and push that change forward by going beyond our medical devices that already serve millions. We will engineer extraordinary, next-generation healthcare technology – and enable access to that technology for populations all around the world.”

The refresh also features an update to the Medtronic Symbol. The design of the symbol, which was originally inspired by a painting Medtronic co-founder Earl Bakken commissioned, has only changed a few times since the Company was founded 60 years ago. The new look shows a gender-neutral person in a high-tech color scheme moving forward towards full life.

In addition to the brand refresh, Medtronic will host its first-ever ESG Investor Briefing with company leaders, including Chairman and CEO Geoff Martha and CFO Karen Parkhill.
