Four Medtronic technologies receive Japan’s 2025 Good Design Award

Recognition highlights Medtronic design excellence and commitment to improving patient lives

Medtronic, a global leader in healthcare technology, today announced that four of its technologies have received Japan’s 2025 Good Design Award, a comprehensive national recognition for design excellence. This is the first year that four Medtronic technologies have received the award.

The 2025 Medtronic Good Design Award winning solutions are:

  • PROPEL™ Sinus Implant – Japan’s first bioabsorbable, steroid-eluting sinus implant that supports postoperative healing and reduces recurrence risk following sinus surgery.
  • Aurora EV-ICD™ MRI System – First-of-its-kind extravascular ICD system, designed to reduce procedural risk and improve patient comfort by eliminating the need for transvenous leads, instead positioning the Epsila™ EV MRI lead beneath the sternum.
  • Onyx Frontier™ Coronary Stent – A next-generation stent delivery system that combines increased catheter flexibility and deliverability, and a lower crossing profile to treat complex coronary lesions.  Onyx Frontier offers a broad size matrix, including Japan’s smallest 2.0 mm stent for small vessels.
  • Evolut™ FX+ Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR) System – An enhanced frame design with addition of larger windows to facilitate coronary access to leverage market-leading valve performance.

Organized by the Japan Institute of Design Promotion, the annual Good Design Award recognizes a variety of products based on efficacy, utility, and potential to enrich both individual lives and society at large.

The Good Design Award jury recognized all four Medtronic technologies for their combination of technical innovation, clinical impact, and human-centered design. Each product was praised for addressing complex medical challenges through thoughtful engineering that improves quality of care and patient outcomes.
