Oct. 28, 2024 — Medtronic, a global leader in medical technology, today announced the appointment of Dr. Matthew Kroh as the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) for Advanced Surgical Technologies and General Surgical Technologies, underscoring the company’s commitment to advancing surgical innovation and improving patient outcomes.
A board-certified general surgeon with fellowship training in advanced laparoscopic and bariatric surgery and surgical endoscopy, Dr. Kroh brings extensive clinical and healthcare leadership experience to Medtronic, guiding the new product development and commercialization strategies within the Surgical business. Under his leadership, Medtronic aims to deepen its clinical insights and enhance its engagement with physicians and medical societies globally.

Dr. Kroh, currently Division Chief for Foregut and Surgical Endoscopy at the Cleveland Clinic, is a respected leader in surgical research and innovation with vast experience in early-phase clinical trials and various contributions to the development of minimally invasive surgical techniques, including robotics and single-incision laparoscopic surgery. Dr. Kroh is a member of several esteemed scientific committees and has authored over 175 peer-reviewed articles.
