Medtronic launches GAiTEWAY™ software platform, connecting AI-driven surgical planning and insights across the AiBLE™ ecosystem
GALWAY, Ireland, June 3, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Medtronic (NYSE: MDT), a global leader in healthcare technology, today announced the launch of the GAiTEWAY™ software platform, a cloud-based digital portal that brings together AI-driven surgical planning, clinical insights, and post-operative analytics in a single connected experience for spine surgery.
The GAiTEWAY™ platform serves as the digital portal to the Medtronic AiBLE™ ecosystem, connecting pre-operative planning with intraoperative technologies such as the Stealth AXiS™ surgical system and post-operative outcome analysis. By linking these stages of care, the platform helps enable surgeons to translate surgical plans into execution in the operating room and learn from outcomes to inform future cases.
Built as the next generation of the UNiD™ Hub platform, the GAiTEWAY™ platform maintains the trusted workflows surgeons already use today while introducing a modern cloud-based foundation designed to support future innovation across the AiBLE™ ecosystem.
“Every spine case comes with its own set of challenges,” said Dr. Sharad Rajpal, spine neurosurgeon and early adopter. “The GAiTEWAY™ platform offers the ability to connect surgical planning, intraoperative execution, and clinical outcomes data through one, seamless user-friendly interface. That visibility helps surgeons better understand how their plans translate into real patient results.”
Through integration with the Stealth AXiS™ surgical system, the GAiTEWAY™ platform serves as the central connection point across devices to enable full construct planning by combining alignment planning with screw planning to help guide intraoperative execution and assess progress to plan in real-time using LiveAlign™ segmental tracking in the Stealth AXiS™ surgical system. The platform also connects surgeons directly with the AiBLE™ Clinic team, where engineers provide surgical plan options for surgeons to determine the patient-specific plan and support data-driven case review.
In addition to planning capabilities, the GAiTEWAY™ platform enables surgeons to review outcomes alongside original surgical plans, helping identify trends across cases and refine surgical techniques over time. By connecting planning, execution, reconciliation, and analysis, the platform creates a continuous learning loop designed to support more consistent surgical decision making and patient outcomes.
"The GAiTEWAY™ platform is an important step in advancing the AiBLE™ ecosystem," said Michael Carter, Senior Vice President and President of Medtronic Cranial & Spinal Technologies. "By connecting surgical planning, enabling technologies like the Stealth AXiS™ system, and data-driven insights, we are helping surgeons make more informed decisions across the surgical journey."
Designed to evolve as new technologies and insights emerge, the platform serves as the digital foundation of the AiBLE™ ecosystem, enabling future integration of Medtronic technologies, partner applications, and advanced analytics.
