Medtronic jumped to # 11 on this year’s list, the company’s highest-ever ranking from DiversityInc
Medtronic jumped to # 11 on this year’s DiversityInc Top 50 Companies for Diversity, the company’s highest-ever ranking on the list. And it ranked # 3 on the Top Companies for Supplier Diversity list, also a highest-ever ranking for the company. Medtronic’s move from # 33 in 2020 to # 11 in 2021 on the overall list is one of the largest jumps of any company in the Top 50.
“While our work is not done, today we have reason to celebrate,” said Sally Saba, Chief Inclusion and Diversity Officer at Medtronic. “We’re honored to be recognized for our work in creating a culture where employees are embraced, respected and valued for who they are.”
The DiversityInc ranking is among the leading assessments of diversity management in corporate America. Its survey includes hundreds of questions and assesses companies in six key areas of diversity and inclusion management:
DiversityInc started the annual survey in 2001. The ranking covers companies with at least 750 employees in the United States and participation is voluntary.
Medtronic accelerated its commitment to inclusion, diversity and equity (I,D & E) in 2020. All Medtronic managers in the United States and each member of the company’s executive committee recently received extensive inclusive leadership training. And a new I, D & E initiative will be launched this summer. The events of 2020 resulted in more U.S. companies prioritizing inclusion and diversity, Saba noted. “That’s good for individuals, teams, companies, and society,” she said. “At Medtronic, we are proud of our progress, and just as importantly, of the momentum toward what we have yet to achieve.”
